I thought......

I am now HERE.

I got a visit from the Harbor Master this morning. He gave me heads up that the authorities will hassle me for being where I was. He said to go where I'm at now and I'll be ok.
To bad I am a couple miles from town access now.
I had planned on moving back here today to try for some protection from some wind thats on its way, so I have a couple days to fret before I try to finish some unfinished business.
Trying now to hook some crab trap bait before shit hits the fan.
It just goes to show , that just when ya think your doing ok ........

  1. I tell ya, Florida sure doesn't make it easy for cruisers to visit their State. It has definitely not been one of my favorites on this trip. We're hoping to be able to move along soon.

  2. I have to say this looks like some BS to me. I see nothing on my charts to indicate any restrictions on the coordinates you posted. I do see the mooring field and I don't know what rules they might have but I would ask the dock master what the specific problem was. You are in so shallow (gotta love that Macgregor!) that I find it hard to believe you were in anybody's way. They would probably go aground before they could hit you! You could also ask the authorities yourself. That would be even better. This looks like some petty intimidation to me. They don't want you having such nice access to the city for free.

  3. Well Jay, I think Bouba was just trying to help, he did admit to not being to sure of the situation and left it up to me to decide. He didn't personally have a problem with it.
I didn't ( and still don't ) think I am ready to stir up the ant hill (argue legality ) with locals.
Once I am in the area for a while I am sure to learn what I need to keep from being bullied by officers and officials that are having a bad day....
Thanks for the advice though! I will keep you comments in mind as I go!!

  4. I understand and respect your decision to try to keep peace but I don't think Florida will let you have any. Good luck.

  5. People in Florida have meetings and strategize about how to discourgage or outlaw your type of boating. That does not happen everywhere. (maybe you meant everywhere in Florida) In fact I have heard of none of these problems north of Georgia. It's funny because normally the north regulates everything to death yet here they offer more freedom. By the way, there's more crabs in Chesapeake bay than you could possible ever eat!
