Perfect Fit!

I hauled the newly acquired dingy soon to be called Kitty's Wake, out of the water today.
Utilizing the power trim on the outboard and a rope , I was able to bring her aboard without struggle!
Once I got her to the resting place that I had guessed would work, I realized this lil boat was meant to be with DAWGFISH! I couldn't have made it to fit any better!!

As you can see , I had to haul her out to find and fix a leak.
She also has some corrosion along the waterline.
I guess I get to try my hand at using Epoxy resin!

What about Bob?

Here the past few days I have had a chance to help Bob. Bob has a 30 ft Tartan named SPIRIT that will soon be named SPARTAN! He has asked me to help get her back into ship shape and I agreed to help!
Here is a picture of Bob airing up his recently acquired inflatable skiff that has a leak in the front air bladder.
and yes that's a leaf blower.
Bob asked me to cut his grass and  is also letting me use his motorcycle for a while so I can get to his place to mow!

Before I even started this trip I had been looking for an 8ft jon boat and have actively looked for one during my travels, not having any luck.
I mentioned to Bob that I was seeking a skiff to compliment DAWGFISH and he offered to show my his "lil aluminum boat". I thought this was a nice offer but kept my hopes low just in case.
One afternoon Bob and his wife offered me dinner(which was most excellent!) while I was checking out the lawn I was going to be mowing( which is a nicely out of the way spot), when he showed me the lil boat......
I was floored.... there one was .... the long sought after 8 ft jon boat.
It practically glowed in my eyes! Angelic choir in the background roaring!
Now its at DAWGFISH. Thank you Bob!!
First I have to get it registered , second patch the small leak(no problem), 3rd get motor and all the safety stuff required. and then????
I while get to be 90% more free to roam while at anchor!
Here is the skiff.
Well thats all for now !
Hope everyone has a great day!!

Not-so-unpleasant surprise !

From time to time I get startled by these Lil crabs. Normally they appear from a hidden spot and land on a bare foot or hand . Due to the fact that they appear to be spider at first sight ( and feel), and the times they land on me are during "exciting" circumstances, I never fail to jump about a foot up and back with a choice swear word or two, before realizing " Oh ! it's just a crab!"
Which is followed by the relieved feeling that comes after knowing the crab isn't a spider and its not going to try to chew your hand off and suck out all your blood!
Here is what they look like!

It just so happens that this is the kind of crab that they dragonfly was crunching away at when I last visited with Glenn and Joann Dean!

Lapse

Between the storms and learning to dive effectively, getting pix are difficult to say the least.
NEVER FEAR! underwater digital camera coming soon!!!
I am learning so much about the diving side of life. This is like a dream come true!
Will be more active here soon to continue the saga....
Presently back in the storm hole. I hear it's called Helpekney (hell-peck-nee) bay by the locals.
Local knowledge recommend this area as a hurricane hole, but further back in the mangroves the better.
I hope it doesn't come to that, the skeeters and noseeums are bad here as it is. The  further back ya go the worse they get......if that's possible......nevermind .....it's possible....

Progress

Howdy Everyone!
I'm still near Ft Myers Beach.
Currently in my safety spot near snook bight marina, on watch due to some 30 + Mph wind that's a prelude to the next cold front .
I will be here for a few days until this front passes .
I've been occupying my time learning the ropes of diving !
Since my family left last Tuesday I have spent more than half of each day , completely underwater.
I have always dreamed of being able to spent this kind of time submerged and am really excited about learning all the little tricks that make this activity practically effortless!
Unfortunately I don't have an underwater camera as yet but maybe that will come with time.
My trainer and I stop daily at Topps supermarket for various reasons .
Since some folks down don't have any sense of propriety we take turns going in to the store.
This little path looks neat when the sun is right. It meanders back through the mangrove and is inhabited by some healthy lookin coons and I've been told by some unhealthy lookin people.
Well that's all for now.
Ill try to get some more pix later on .

Visitors: Day 4

3 days and a night,
with my Mom and 2 Auntimals a spoilin,

A day to walk and 2 days sail,
with laughter a boilin,

Yet we had to say good bye,
With tears a roilin.

With love and affection,
 we said our good byes,

They worried bout me on the ship,
I worried bout them in their flight.

We can only hope,
 for fair wind and wake,
to make safe passage,
 for all our sake.

Love you 3! Thanks for coming to visit!
Hope to see ya'll again soon!
I think this is my favorite picture taken.
