Finally a replacement

I was finally able to replace my US flag!!!
This time it's a sewn flag not the printed kind. The print kind disintegrate in heavy storms and medium wind.
I'm hoping to have better luck with the sewn version..

Sometimes .....

I have noticed throughout the years that for the most part , cup holders don't accommodate the nice insulated large mugs that are sold in gas stations and used for advertisement for various reasons .
While these cups are great for a lot of reasons , one thing they are bad about is tipping over! Yeah they come with lids that work for a while but always get lost or broke.

Since starting my trip I found out reeeeaaaaly quick that spilling coffee on sailboat is easier done than said!
I try hard to remember to place my "all day cup " of joe in a spot that with make it stay put.
Every now and then I would try different spots and half of those I regretted trying while others worked ok.
Sometimes it pays to keep trying!
While sitting here , I noticed the similarities between the bottom of my large cup and the bottom of a 1lb LP bottle...... Recent circumstances have allowed me to finally replace my countertop burner
And I still had the base that comes with the unit laying out.
After pluging my cup into the base I couldn't help but wonder, "WTH didn't I think of that before?!?!?

Sometimes......things fit right!

Perfect Fit!

I hauled the newly acquired dingy soon to be called Kitty's Wake, out of the water today.
Utilizing the power trim on the outboard and a rope , I was able to bring her aboard without struggle!
Once I got her to the resting place that I had guessed would work, I realized this lil boat was meant to be with DAWGFISH! I couldn't have made it to fit any better!!

As you can see , I had to haul her out to find and fix a leak.
She also has some corrosion along the waterline.
I guess I get to try my hand at using Epoxy resin!

What about Bob?

Here the past few days I have had a chance to help Bob. Bob has a 30 ft Tartan named SPIRIT that will soon be named SPARTAN! He has asked me to help get her back into ship shape and I agreed to help!
Here is a picture of Bob airing up his recently acquired inflatable skiff that has a leak in the front air bladder.
and yes that's a leaf blower.
Bob asked me to cut his grass and  is also letting me use his motorcycle for a while so I can get to his place to mow!

Before I even started this trip I had been looking for an 8ft jon boat and have actively looked for one during my travels, not having any luck.
I mentioned to Bob that I was seeking a skiff to compliment DAWGFISH and he offered to show my his "lil aluminum boat". I thought this was a nice offer but kept my hopes low just in case.
One afternoon Bob and his wife offered me dinner(which was most excellent!) while I was checking out the lawn I was going to be mowing( which is a nicely out of the way spot), when he showed me the lil boat......
I was floored.... there one was .... the long sought after 8 ft jon boat.
It practically glowed in my eyes! Angelic choir in the background roaring!
Now its at DAWGFISH. Thank you Bob!!
First I have to get it registered , second patch the small leak(no problem), 3rd get motor and all the safety stuff required. and then????
I while get to be 90% more free to roam while at anchor!
Here is the skiff.
Well thats all for now !
Hope everyone has a great day!!

Not-so-unpleasant surprise !

From time to time I get startled by these Lil crabs. Normally they appear from a hidden spot and land on a bare foot or hand . Due to the fact that they appear to be spider at first sight ( and feel), and the times they land on me are during "exciting" circumstances, I never fail to jump about a foot up and back with a choice swear word or two, before realizing " Oh ! it's just a crab!"
Which is followed by the relieved feeling that comes after knowing the crab isn't a spider and its not going to try to chew your hand off and suck out all your blood!
Here is what they look like!

It just so happens that this is the kind of crab that they dragonfly was crunching away at when I last visited with Glenn and Joann Dean!
